Going green data center is being more than an altruistic aspiration to save the planet. It’s now clear that going green is a necessity that companies will need to embrace – sooner rather than later – to survive economically. While this new components can often deliver ever-greater performance per unit of power, they can also be increasingly power hungry. In addition, the evolution of high-density, rack-mounted servers has typically increased heat density, creating hotspots and taxing cooling systems. The excessive heat can also threaten operating stability, resiliency and staff productivity.
Responding to customer demand for better performance at lower prices, the information technology industry has delivered faster servers, lower-cost storage and more flexible networking equipment.
Typical data center draw approximately two or three times the amount of power required for the IT equipment because conventional data center designs are oversized for maximum capacity and older infrastructure components can be very inefficient. |
 | The cost associated with this level of power consumption can significantly impact the total cost of ownership for data center facilities and IT systems.
The rising cost of kilowatt of electricity has further compounded the problem. data center cooling and electrical costs currently represent up to 44 percent of a data center’s total cost of ownership. The three-year cost of power and cooling servers is currently one-and-a-half times the cost of purchasing server hardware. With the growing demand for cheaper and ever-more-powerful high-performance computer clusters, the problem is not just paying for the computers, but determining whether we have the budget to pay for data center power and data center cooling. |
The message is clear: Energy costs are rising, supply is limited, the data center infrastructure is being taxed, and its ability to meet business demands is at stake. CIO who wants to solve the problems will need to focus on data center innovation. |
 |
Fortunately, green data center strategies and technologies exist today to help optimize space, data center power, data center cooling and resiliency while improving operational management and reducing costs–at the same time, helping to position the companies for growth and enabling CIOs to meet expanding business needs.
Most companies expect that their CIOs will supply a reliable, high-performance infrastructure to support the business within their allocated budgets. Are you prepared to continue meeting this expectation in the changing environment? Do you know for sure that your data center can meet growing cooling and power demands? Do you have a plan to manage the impact of rising energy costs? Are you prepared to contribute to corporate initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions?Do you have a strategy for your data center to ensure that you can continue to meet your company’s expectations?

If your answer is not a resounding “yes” to most of these questions, perhaps the time has come to evaluate your strategy.
TechXact’s Green Data Center Solution Large amounts of data in the minimum space
Thermal loads up to 21 kW |
 |
With the trend to computers of higher and higher performance and at the same time an ever-tighter package density in server racks, demand is increasing for intelligent systems for the optimization of energy and space efficiency. High density solutions are what IT decision-makers are looking for. Faster and more powerful server systems are being housed in smaller and smaller spaces. Heatload spots of up to 21 kW have to handled, whatever the temperature of the ambient air. The market demands complete, space-saving solutions for reducing the heat level of server cabinets.
Demands relating to safety, the autarky of the entire system and power management are also rising steadily. The remote maintenance of a computer center or of individual server locations is the current requirement of the industry. Practically all the cabinet parameters from temperature, moisture, smoke and vibration to door contacts and access check and mains-phase monitoring should be recorded and documented in a single unit.

Side-by-side Installation and Mounting:
There is consequently a strict climatic separation between rack and computer center. Through the additional separation of the cooling unit in its own integrated and enclosed unit, the rack climate is not affected when the cooling unit is opened while in operation. An optimal climate is continuously maintained for the servers. For protection from environmental influences, the SP54_Q Rack comes with the IP54 protective system as standard.
Protection from Environmental Influences:
Through the separation of server cabinet and cooling unit, two autarkic areas are established which can be managed in safety and service respects as desired by the customer without affecting the system in operation. Four-point interlocking is a standard feature of air-conditioned cabinets to assure the perfect sealing of the rack.
Closure Safety and Accessibility:
With UNIQLE, TechXact is systematically implementing the principle of a cooling system integrated in the server rack. The decision for integration is a logical step. Server space is not unlimited!
